The Treatment
Resurfacing, Refined
Glycolic acid is a naturally derived alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) sourced from sugarcane. As the smallest molecule in the AHA family, it penetrates the skin more effectively than other exfoliating acids โ making it one of the most trusted ingredients in professional skincare.
When applied by a trained esthetician, a glycolic acid peel gently dissolves the bonds holding dead skin cells to the surface, accelerating cell turnover and stimulating collagen production beneath. The result is visibly smoother, more even, and luminous skin โ often after just one treatment.
At Water Lily, our licensed esthetician carefully controls the strength and timing of the peel to match your skin's sensitivity and goals, ensuring a comfortable, safe, and effective experience. We use Eminence Organics products to prep and soothe skin around every peel treatment. Proudly serving Battle Ground and all of Clark County, WA.

Your Experience
What to Expect
Consultation & Skin Prep
Your esthetician reviews your skin history and current concerns, assesses your skin's condition, and thoroughly cleanses to remove all traces of makeup, SPF, and oils before applying the peel.
Peel Application
The glycolic acid solution is carefully applied to the skin in controlled layers. You may experience a mild tingling or warming sensation โ this is normal and a sign the peel is working. Your esthetician monitors the skin throughout.
Neutralization
At the precise moment determined by your skin's response, the peel is thoroughly neutralized and removed, stopping the action of the acid and returning the skin to its normal pH balance.
Soothing & Nourishment
Calming serums and a hydrating masque are applied to soothe and restore the skin. A protective moisturizer and SPF complete the treatment, leaving skin plump, calm, and luminous.
Aftercare Guidance
Your esthetician provides detailed aftercare instructions and product recommendations to maintain and extend your results at home โ including SPF guidance, which is essential post-peel.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked
Does a glycolic acid peel hurt?
Most clients experience a mild tingling or slight warmth during the peel โ not pain. Sensation varies depending on your skin's sensitivity and the strength of the peel used. Your esthetician will check in with you throughout and can adjust accordingly.
How long does skin peeling last after the treatment?
Visible flaking or peeling is typically minimal with a professional-grade glycolic peel and, if it occurs at all, usually resolves within 2โ3 days. You may notice subtle shedding of dead skin cells rather than dramatic peeling. Results and downtime vary by individual.
Can I wear makeup after the peel?
We recommend avoiding makeup for at least 24 hours after your peel to allow the skin to breathe and recover. After that, mineral makeup is preferred. Your esthetician will advise based on your skin's response.
Will I be red after the treatment?
Mild pink flushing immediately after the peel is normal and typically resolves within a few hours to a day. Significant redness or irritation is uncommon at professional treatment strengths when proper protocols are followed.
How many peels will I need to see results?
Many clients see an immediate improvement in skin luminosity and texture after their first peel. For more significant concerns like hyperpigmentation or fine lines, a series of 4โ6 treatments spaced 4โ6 weeks apart is generally recommended.
